A sensitive refurbishment of two historic Mayfair townhouses, restoring their London stock brickwork while introducing new heritage glazing, balconies and a contemporary hospitality interior.

“The project balances conservation and contemporary use, restoring the architectural character of Nos. 8–9 Dover Street while introducing carefully detailed interventions that strengthen the buildings’ relationship with the surrounding Mayfair townscape.”

Nos. 8–9 form a three-storey historic terrace within Mayfair, characterised by London stock brick façades and traditional shopfronts. Years of weathering, staining and insensitive repairs had diminished their architectural quality.

The façade strategy focused on a conservation-led repair of the existing brickwork, using DOFF cleaning, lime-mortar repointing and localised repairs to recover the original material character and improve the buildings’ contribution to Dover Street.

Internally, the former ground floor car showroom is reconfigured around a new bar and clearer circulation strategy. Back-of-house functions are carefully integrated, allowing the front-of-house spaces to feel open, warm and welcoming from the moment of arrival.

Overall the works combine careful restoration with precise new interventions, including brickwork repairs, heritage glazing, metal balconies and upgraded entrances. Internally, the buildings are reconfigured to accommodate a new contemporary nightclub and hospitality environment.
