The brief was to review how the dilapidated former bike shop and 20m long workshop could be developed to provide studios and a community gallery space on the ground floor, with two flats for the collectives’ founders above.

We proposed an overhaul of the site, retaining the shop front and flat above, but taking down the poor quality workshop space creating a new building detailed to reflect its surroundings, and utilising the typology of the industrial sheds.

All accommodation is arranged around a landlocked external courtyard providing private outdoor amenity space, perfect for events and bringing light into the plan.
