Location County Cork, Ireland

Set in the open rural landscape of County Cork, this new passive house begins with the simple idea: how to create a home in an environment shaped by strong, relentless westerly winds. Rather than resisting the weather, the design works with it.

The design responds by settling the house into the site, arranging spaces so that inside and outside overlap. This allows the landscape and the weather to be experienced without full exposure to the elements.

The construction is simple and precise, supporting the performance of the passive house. Local materials are used for their durability, low impact and connection to place. Together, these decisions reduce energy demand, make the most of its setting, and offering a calm, comfortable place to live.
